Josh Rivera is President of Integrative Recovery Coaching Academy, where he is committed to preparing individuals to become knowledgeable, compassionate, and effective recovery coaches. The Academy is built on the understanding that recovery coaching is about more than providing information or connecting someone to resources. At its core, it is about human connection—meeting people where they are, listening without judgment, recognizing individual strengths, and helping people discover their own pathways toward meaningful and lasting change.
Developing Skilled & Compassionate Recovery Coaches
Through Integrative Recovery Coaching Academy, participants develop practical skills and professional knowledge they can carry into real-world recovery settings. Training focuses on essential areas including ethics and professional boundaries, active listening and effective communication, motivational interviewing and support strategies, pathways to recovery, community resources, self-care, and burnout prevention. The Academy emphasizes four principles that are fundamental to effective recovery coaching:
Listen. Empathy. Support. Hope. These principles help future coaches understand that their role is not to direct another person's recovery or determine what recovery should look like. A recovery coach walks alongside the individual—helping them recognize strengths, identify goals, navigate barriers, access resources, build accountability, and move forward with greater confidence.
More Than Training—Building Confidence & Purpose
Josh's approach recognizes that becoming an effective recovery coach requires more than learning techniques. It requires understanding how to establish trust, communicate authentically, maintain healthy professional boundaries, and respect the individuality of every person's recovery journey.
Participants have the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge, confidence, connection, and sense of purpose while developing tools they can use to support individuals and communities.
The Academy also emphasizes the importance of caring for the coach. Understanding personal limitations, maintaining appropriate boundaries, practicing self-awareness, and preventing burnout are essential components of providing sustainable and responsible support to others.
Leadership with Purpose
As President of Integrative Recovery Coaching Academy, Josh Rivera brings leadership, experience, and a strong commitment to advancing recovery coaching and developing future recovery professionals.
His work reflects a belief in the power of connection and in the ability of well-prepared recovery coaches to make a meaningful difference in people's lives.
The goal is not simply to teach people how to become recovery coaches.
It is to help develop coaches who understand the responsibility that comes with walking beside another person during some of the most important moments of their life.
